One capital base · two routes · three positions

Box 3 and Dutch private limited company (BV) comparison

Compare personal ownership and ownership through a BV on the same capital, horizon and return assumption, using separately confirmed tax amounts.

Before calculating · 14–15 minutes

Choose the context and prepare comparable inputs first

An investment portfolio and a specific property need different preparation. In either case, use the calculator only after the assets, ownership objective, horizon and separately estimated tax amounts are clear.

One system

Documents should lead to one understandable outcome.

Reconstruct the facts first. Compare documents and authority next. Only then set the order of action.

Comparison after confirming the assumptions

Box 3 or a Dutch private limited company (BV): where the difference arises

This model does not calculate Dutch tax. First obtain or enter confirmed annual tax amounts for both routes. It then compares the same capital, return assumption and horizon.

The comparison uses simple linear returns and the tax amounts you enter. It does not model rate changes, asset mix, actual performance, losses, distribution timing, asset protection or the legal purpose of a BV.

How to use the result

Three steps to turn the number into a clear question rather than treating it as ready-made advice.

  1. 01

Use the same capital, horizon and gross return assumption for both routes.

  2. 02

Take the Box 3, BV and assumed-distribution tax amounts from a separate current estimate; the calculator does not derive them from rates.

  3. 03

Read capital retained inside the BV separately from cash reaching the owner. The difference identifies a review question, not a ready-made structure choice.

What the result does not prove

The result does not cover ownership purpose, asset type, legal protection, changes in Dutch tax rules, actual performance or distribution timing.

Outcome after completion

Three comparable positions: Box 3, capital retained inside the BV and cash after an assumed distribution to the owner.

Format: calculator. Inputs and results remain in this page's memory. They reach your personal space or VB Structuren only when you choose the relevant save or question button.

Next step

The result exposes a dependency to validate before making a decision.

Read the assumptions and the weakest scenario as carefully as the headline result. If the conclusion affects the family, authority, a material asset or the company, save the result with its inputs and discuss it through the relevant service.
